Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System i.e. CAIPS is a part of the Electronic Data Processing (EDP) system. This is basically used to process visa applications by the Canadian Immigration offices. The information is gathered through the application forms and supporting documentation which are submitted by applicants for immigrant and visitor visa, student and employment authorizations or returning residence permits.

With the introduction of GCMS i.e. Global Case Management System – the new applicant tracking system, the CAIPS computer system is getting side tracked.
